Airquee partnered with Gravity to create a flagship Family Entertainment Centre at Star City in Birmingham. The project transformed a former cinema on the leisure and entertainment complex into one of the UK's largest indoor leisure destinations, combining an inflatable park, trampolines, climbing attractions and soft play for visitors of all ages.
Working alongside our sister company, Airparx, the project involved the design, manufacture and installation of a complete attraction within a challenging existing building. Every element was carefully planned to maximise capacity, maintain clear sightlines and create an intuitive visitor journey throughout the venue.
The inflatable park was designed as a key destination for Star City, which attracts around four million people a year, offering visitors a continuous adventure packed with climbing challenges, slides, obstacle features and interactive elements. By integrating bridges, access routes and connecting play features, guests can move seamlessly between different activities without leaving the main attraction.
The layout encourages exploration while helping operators manage visitor flow and maximise the use of the available footprint. Every feature was positioned to create an engaging experience for families, teenagers and groups, encouraging longer dwell times and repeat visits.
Converting a former cinema presented a number of design challenges, including varying floor levels, structural columns and the need to integrate multiple attractions within a single space. Airquee's in-house design team developed a bespoke solution that made the most of the available building while supporting safe operation and an enjoyable customer experience.
Alongside the inflatable park, the venue includes interconnected trampoline zones, an Air Ninja course, foam pits, jump towers and the popular Last One Standing attraction, all linked together to create a vibrant family entertainment destination.
