In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Airquee collaborated with Campbell-Hill Ltd to develop the SHIELD (AerosolSHIELD), a practical solution designed to provide an additional physical barrier for clinical staff during oral and exhalation procedures.
Created as a lightweight, flexible and low-cost alternative to rigid Perspex boxes, the SHIELD combines a hygienic PVC hood with curved PE-X side supports and removable stabilising pipes.
Despite its simple construction, the SHIELD provides clinicians with plenty of working space and can accommodate equipment and procedures including Ambu Bags, bronchoscopy, bougies, Glidescopes, hand ventilation and laryngoscopy.
Developed rapidly in response to an extraordinary healthcare challenge, the AerosolSHIELD demonstrates how collaboration, innovative thinking and adaptable design can turn an urgent need into a practical solution.
